Michael Burry’s Substack Cassandra Unchained tops 300,000 subscribers

At $39 per month and $379 per year, the subscriber milestone is fueling estimates that the newsletter business could be a major revenue driver, though Substack does not disclose paid-subscriber counts.

Michael Burry’s Substack, Cassandra Unchained, has surpassed 300,000 subscribers, according to a report by Yahoo Finance. Burry began publishing on Substack in November 2025 after deregistering his hedge fund, Scion Asset Management, with the SEC.

The Yahoo Finance report says Burry’s newsletter has been positioned as a vehicle for laying out his increasingly bearish thesis on artificial intelligence, and it has also drawn attention for its focus on companies tied to the AI buildout. The article notes that the internet quickly shifted from the subscriber milestone to questions about how much money the newsletter could generate.

The subscription pricing highlighted by Yahoo Finance is $39 per month or $379 per year, with a free tier also available. The outlet adds that Substack does not disclose how many subscribers are paid, but Cassandra Unchained carries a Substack “Bestseller badge,” suggesting tens of thousands of paid subscribers.

Yahoo Finance also reports that, alongside the subscriber growth, Burry has made trade disclosures that include bearish positions involving Nvidia, Palantir, Applied Materials, the iShares Semiconductor ETF, and Tesla, citing StockTwits for the details.
