TikTok Shop UK sales rise as live shopping drives faster commerce
TikTok says UK sales grew more than 30% year on year in June, with live shopping its fastest growing format.
Live shopping is becoming mainstream consumer behavior, with platforms increasingly using livestreams to connect sellers and shoppers, according to BBC Business.
The outlet reports that Glow For It, a beauty brand started by student Daisy Kelly, now generates about £6m a year in sales, with more than 40% coming from TikTok Shop UK and revenue topping £100,000 from a single 12 hour TikTok live.
BBC Business also says TikTok Shop UK sales grew by more than 30% year on year in June, and that live shopping is its fastest growing format, supported by retail research from Savvy Marketing showing 30% of shoppers surveyed had bought something from a live shopping event.
At London’s Covent Garden event, BBC Business notes that small businesses sold to customers across the UK via livestreams, including halal butcher Manny Malik, who said a three hour TikTok live brought in £8,000 in meat sales and is helping drive his second store opening in Stoke.
