Tesla set to report Q2 results after delivery surge lifts revenue

Consensus expects revenue of $26.21 billion, up 16% year over year, while analysts flag increased cash burn as a key risk despite stronger deliveries and energy storage growth.

Tesla is scheduled to report second-quarter results after the closing bell on Wednesday, with expectations centered on a sales rebound and rising cash needs, according to a Yahoo Finance earnings preview.

The preview cites a Bloomberg consensus looking for Q2 revenue of $26.21 billion, up 16% from a year earlier, alongside adjusted earnings per share of $0.50 and adjusted EBITDA of $4.00 billion. It also points to a large lift in deliveries, with Tesla reporting Q2 deliveries of 480,126, up 25% year over year, and energy storage deployments at 13.5 GWh, more than 50% above the first quarter.

Tesla’s production and demand drivers include the ramp-up of the new Model Y, plus continued pricing competition globally that the preview says drew buyer response. It also notes shifting perceptions around leadership and references views that the “EV winter” that began in March 2024 may have eased.

Regionally, the preview highlights that Tesla’s U.S. sales are pressured by the expiration of the federal EV tax credit, with Cox Automotive seeing U.S. sales down 20%. In Europe, it says registrations improved sharply, with Greater Europe registrations up nearly 108% in May and EU registrations more than doubling, while Deutsche Bank attributed strength to Europe and additional support from China.
