Abbott shares slide despite strong Q2 results and dividend record

Abbott reported Q2 sales of $12.6 billion, up 13% year over year, and said its U.S. core laboratory business grew 7.5%.

Yahoo Finance highlights Abbott Laboratories, a long-running “Dividend King,” while noting the stock is down 19% year to date versus the S&P 500.

The outlet points to Abbott’s 55-year track record of dividend increases and a forward dividend yield of 2.5%, describing the company’s diversified healthcare model across medical devices, diagnostics, nutrition, and established pharmaceuticals.

Abbott’s second-quarter results included total sales rising 13% year over year to $12.6 billion, which exceeded the forecast revenue of $12.52 billion. Adjusted EPS came in at $1.31, ahead of the $1.28 estimate.

According to Yahoo Finance, diagnostic testing volumes stayed strong across the U.S. and international markets, with Abbott’s U.S. core laboratory business growing 7.5%, the company says reflects underlying demand.
