US stock futures slide ahead of Alphabet and Tesla earnings
Dow and S&P 500 futures fell 0.1% and 0.2%, while Nasdaq-100 futures dropped 0.6% as investors weighed tariffs, higher oil prices, and results from the first two Magnificent Seven megacaps to report.
US stock index futures edged lower on Wednesday as investors looked ahead to post-market earnings from Alphabet and Tesla, the first two Magnificent Seven companies scheduled to release second-quarter results, according to Yahoo Finance.
Futures tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.1%, S&P 500 futures declined 0.2%, and Nasdaq-100 contracts dropped 0.6%, extending a pullback after the prior day’s gains.
The outlook for tech spending and automation was in focus, with markets set to assess whether Alphabet’s AI monetization efforts justify surging AI investment and watching for Tesla’s capex plans as it enters its next automation phase, Yahoo Finance said.
Beyond company results, investors also weighed fresh trade and energy headlines, including a reported plan to replace expiring 10% global tariffs with more permanent duties, a new 25% tariff on Brazil taking effect, and continued oil-price gains tied to the US’s ongoing airstrikes against Iran. Yahoo Finance also noted that Supermicro shares surged in premarket trading after reporting a record backlog and that IBM is scheduled to report after a pre-earnings warning last week.
