France business climate improves modestly in July, confidence rises
July’s French business confidence reading increased to 97, versus 95 expected, with the rebound following June gains.
Forexlive reports that France’s business climate improved in July, extending a rebound seen in June and lifting the outlook closer to the long term average of 100.
The July business confidence index came in at 97, compared with 95 expected, after a prior reading of 94 that was revised to 95.
The improvement was broad based across manufacturing and services, as well as retail trade, indicating a modest pick up in sentiment to start the summer.
Forexlive also notes remaining risks, including energy prices rising again and potential knock on effects from a longer Middle East conflict and disruptions to shipping conditions in the Red Sea.
