Southwest Airlines hires a ship to move jet fuel between Houston and LA

Southwest Airlines is preparing for potential jet fuel supply disruptions by moving fuel via ship between Houston and Los Angeles for the first time, CNBC Markets reports.

The airline has hired a vessel scheduled to operate this spring, intended to deliver jet fuel from Houston to Los Angeles if shortages emerge.

Southwest said it is using the shipping plan as a contingency, aimed at reducing the risk of interruptions to fuel availability during periods when supply is tighter.
