Tesla and Alphabet slide as AI spending concerns weigh on investors

Shares of both companies fell sharply after signals of higher AI spending, helping drag the S&P 500 down 1.5%.

Tesla and Alphabet shares fell steeply as investors grew concerned about companies signaling higher spending tied to artificial intelligence initiatives, according to CNBC Markets.

LiveMint Markets reported Tesla shares dropped to around $319 after disappointing quarterly results, marking the stock’s lowest level since August 2025. LiveMint also said Alphabet slid even after posting higher revenue, as rising AI investment worries overshadowed the positive figure.

LiveMint Markets further linked the selloff to broader market pressure, citing the two stocks as contributors to a 1.55% decline in the S&P 500.
