Arrowhead stock jumps on plan to file sNDA for plozasiran
Shares climbed as much as 28.0 percent to $95.49, after late stage data showed large triglyceride reductions and fewer acute pancreatitis cases.
Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals shares surged to a five year high on Wednesday as investors positioned for a supplemental new drug application for its gene silencing therapy plozasiran.
According to Yahoo Finance, the company is targeting submission of an sNDA for plozasiran before the end of the year, supported by results from two phase 3 studies in patients with severe hypertriglyceridemia.
Yahoo Finance also reported that the 25 mg dose given once every three months reduced triglyceride levels by 79.0 percent and 81.0 percent in the two studies versus 27.0 percent with placebo, and reduced the overall number of acute pancreatitis cases by 78.0 percent among severe high triglyceride patients.
The outlet said Arrowhead expects no major new safety concerns and plans to seek a supplemental NDA with the FDA by year end because plozasiran is already approved for another rare genetic disorder. Yahoo Finance added that Arrowhead is scheduled to announce third quarter earnings for the period ending June 30, 2026 after the market close on August 4, with a conference call to follow.
