Futuristic tech stocks slide 60% to 65% from highs as investors reassess

The stocks highlighted include Oklo, IonQ, Rocket Lab, AST SpaceMobile, CoreWeave, and SoundHound AI, tied to nuclear power, quantum computing, space, and AI themes.

Yahoo Finance highlights a sell-off that has cut a group of so-called futuristic, high-flying tech stocks by about 60% to roughly 65% from their highs, with the downturn prompting investors to reconsider whether the earlier “future” expectations still match today’s valuations.

The outlet ties the companies in the list to long-term themes including advanced nuclear power and quantum computing, with Oklo and IonQ cited, as well as space and AI build-out through Rocket Lab and AST SpaceMobile, and CoreWeave and SoundHound AI.

Yahoo Finance argues that a large headline percentage decline does not automatically make a stock a bargain, warning that “anchoring” to old peak prices can create a misleading sense of how cheap shares truly are.

It also points to historical drawdowns from pandemic-era “darlings,” saying a 20-stock sample eventually fell roughly 90% from highs, and after dropping 50% median declines continued with another 80% drop from that lower level, underscoring why investors may focus on fundamentals and stabilization signals rather than only past highs.
