Mark Cuban urges CEOs to give employees equity to fight inequality

Cuban said he paid bonuses to every employee after past company sales and cited Broadcast.com, where 300 employees became millionaires.

Billionaire Mark Cuban urged CEOs and founders to narrow income inequality by giving employees equity, arguing that sharing company stock can help workers build wealth alongside leadership, according to an interview published by Yahoo Finance.

Cuban said he would like every CEO to follow his approach, saying he has given equity to every employee in companies he sold and paid out bonuses to all employees after each sale. He pointed to his Broadcast.com exit, saying it turned 300 employees into millionaires.

He also linked the idea to personal outcomes from public-market value creation, describing Elon Musk as an example in which employees receive shares in companies like SpaceX and Tesla. Cuban said that when those stocks rise, workers net worth can increase.

Yahoo Finance also referenced a workplace benefits study from Morgan Stanley, stating that just 37 percent of employees received financial benefits such as equity in 2026, tying Cuban’s proposal to broader gaps in how workplace wealth is shared.
