WS Amati Global Innovation Fund highlights Autodesk as AI skeptics sell off software
Autodesk shares closed at $209.75 on July 24, 2026, and the fund cited fears of automation as the reason investors have questioned specialist software providers.
WS Amati Global Innovation Fund, managed by AMAti Global Investors, released its Q2 2026 investor letter and said equity markets have broadly discounted some software and IT services amid AI enthusiasm and concerns about automation.
According to the letter, the fund pointed to companies tied to AI infrastructure as beneficiaries of significant investment across the sector, while it argued specialist software providers into regulated industries are harder to replicate and may have multi year demand growth.
The letter specifically highlighted Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADSK), describing the company as a provider of 3D design, engineering, and entertainment technology solutions. Autodesk closed at $209.75 per share on July 24, 2026, the fund noted, with a market capitalization of $44.29 billion.
WS Amati said Autodesk has been embracing AI to improve its offering and customer efficiency, and it characterized software and IT services as “written off” by investors as creating what it views as an attractive opportunity over a 3 to 5 year time horizon, per the letter. The fund also reported Autodesk had a one month return of 7.43% and a 52 week loss of 31.11%.
