S&P 500 earnings outlook points to double digit growth this quarter

FactSet estimates S&P 500 earnings for the second quarter could rise 23.2% year over year, above the five year and 10 year averages.

Yahoo Finance writes that the next stretch of earnings is expected to be heavy on Big Tech, after last week’s results from Alphabet and Tesla rattled the tech sector and set the tone for the season.

The outlet notes that Chipotle and Starbucks reported on Wednesday, while Arm Holdings also reported, with ExxonMobil and Chevron set to release results later in the week.

According to FactSet data cited by Yahoo Finance, analysts estimate S&P 500 earnings growth of 23.2% year over year for the second quarter, above the five year average of 16.4% and the 10 year average of 10.3%.

If those projections hold, Yahoo Finance says it would mark the second consecutive quarter of more than 20% growth for the index and the seventh straight quarter of double digit earnings growth.
