Citadel’s Wellington fund rose in July after AI portfolio buy

The gains were linked to Citadel acquiring a discounted, AI-related equity portfolio from hedge fund Situational Awareness after the latter reduced leverage during the recent market correction, the Financial Times reported.

Citadel’s flagship Wellington fund posted strong gains in July, according to coverage by the Financial Times, following Citadel’s acquisition of a discounted equity portfolio tied to artificial intelligence.

The purchase involved a portfolio from hedge fund Situational Awareness, which had undergone rapid deleveraging during the recent market correction.

Hedgeweek said the combination of the acquisition and Situational Awareness’s positioning contributed to Wellington’s performance in the month.
