AMD shares fall in extended trading after record sales beat expectations

The chipmaker posted adjusted EPS of $1.66 on $11.54 billion in revenue, and its data center sales more than doubled, but its gross margin outlook was roughly in line with forecasts.

Advanced Micro Devices slid nearly 8% in extended trading Tuesday even after posting quarterly results that beat Wall Street expectations, with the stock moving lower despite a strong growth backdrop tied to AI demand. According to Yahoo Finance, the company’s shares had risen 7% in Thursday’s regular session ahead of the report.

AMD reported adjusted earnings per share of $1.66 and revenue of $11.54 billion, up 50% year over year and a record for the period. Data center sales more than doubled, and the company said its gross margin was 54%, up from 40% a year earlier.

Looking ahead, AMD forecast current quarter revenue of $12.7 billion to $13.3 billion, which also topped analysts’ estimates compiled by Visible Alpha. The company’s gross margin forecast was roughly in line at about 56%, according to Yahoo Finance, even as investors appeared focused on the margin profile.

Before the release, analysts were broadly optimistic, with seven of nine tracked by Visible Alpha rating the stock a buy and two rating it neutral. Yahoo Finance also noted the shares were up about 140% for 2026 through Tuesday’s close, though they had pulled back from June highs in recent weeks.
