Ouster earnings on Aug. 6 spotlight revenue growth and profitability path
Ouster expects second-quarter revenue of $49.5 million to $52.5 million and is targeting consistent profitability around 2027, depending on keeping margins in the 35% to 40% range.
Ouster is set to report second-quarter earnings on Aug. 6, with investors focused on whether the company can sustain growth quarter over quarter after a year marked by sharp stock swings. According to Yahoo Finance, shares are up 117% year to date and surged 38% in the past five days, but they also fell about in half from late June to late July.
The company guided second-quarter revenue to a range of $49.5 million to $52.5 million, well above the $35 million it reported a year earlier. The key question, Yahoo Finance notes, is whether Ouster can improve QoQ growth because its first-quarter revenue was already nearly $49 million, meaning the low end of the current guidance is essentially flat from there.
Yahoo Finance also points out that first-quarter revenue benefited from Ouster’s February acquisition of Stereolabs, which added roughly seven weeks of extra revenue. The outlet says investors will likely watch whether Ouster can grow off that raised base, especially given a recent pattern of beating revenue estimates while missing on earnings.
On the business side, Yahoo Finance highlights Ouster’s Rev8 lidar sensor, which management says captures full color in 3D scans without a separate camera and is already shipping and being adopted. The company also won contracts to roll out its BlueCity traffic system across more than 30 intersections in the Atlanta area ahead of the FIFA World Cup, and it expects to approach consistent profitability sometime in 2027, contingent on maintaining margins in the 35% to 40% range while controlling costs.
