PepsiCo lifts dividend 4% to $5.92, trades near 52-week lows

The company said Q2 results were tempered by moderated U.S. food and beverage category performance as consumer budgets tightened amid rising inflationary pressures.

Yahoo Finance reports PepsiCo increased its annual dividend by 4% to $5.92 per share, implying a dividend yield of over 4.2%, with the higher yield linked to the stock underperforming rather than an acceleration in payout growth.

The outlet says PepsiCo shares are down 10% over the last five years and are trading near 52-week lows. By comparison, Coca-Cola is trading about 5% below its 52-week highs, with a dividend yield around 2.4%.

On the operating side, Yahoo Finance highlights that PepsiCo’s Q2 performance reflected a split between weaker North America and more resilient international business. In North America, PepsiCo Foods North America reported an annual decline of 2% in organic sales, and PepsiCo Beverages North America posted 1% growth, with both metrics trailing Street estimates.

Yahoo Finance also notes PepsiCo CEO Ramon Laguarta said in prepared remarks that results were tempered as U.S. category performance moderated, with consumer budgets tightening due to rising inflationary pressures, and convenience and gas channels showing particular weakness tied to higher gas prices.
