Sands Capital Technology Innovators Fund gained 26.9% in Q2 2026
The fund attributed its results to continued strength in AI infrastructure-linked holdings, while noting mega-cap chip concentration weighed on relative performance as market leadership broadened.
Sands Capital Technology Innovators Fund reported a net gain of 26.9% in the second quarter of 2026, according to the fund's Q2 2026 investor letter shared via Yahoo Finance. The letter said global equities rebounded sharply, with the MSCI ACWI posting its strongest quarterly gain since 2020 as broad market strength, easing geopolitical tensions, and enthusiasm for AI infrastructure helped drive results.
The fund said information technology led the advance, with semiconductors and hardware accounting for most of the index's rise. It reported gains across areas tied to AI infrastructure, including memory, software infrastructure, cybersecurity, and other related holdings, but said its concentrated exposure to mega-cap chip designers and manufacturers weighed on relative performance as leadership broadened into CPUs, networking, and memory.
Sands Capital also described some parts of its portfolio as modest detractors, pointing to vertical software, internet, and financial holdings amid macro concerns and uncertainty over AI disruption. The fund said it remains focused on critical AI bottlenecks spanning compute, memory, manufacturing, networking, and power, while still holding selected businesses that it expects could use AI to strengthen competitive positioning.
The investor letter highlighted NVIDIA as an example of that AI infrastructure theme, noting the stock's close on July 17, 2026, and citing strong recent growth figures tied to accelerated computing demand. Yahoo Finance also said the fund's NVIDIA-related contribution reflected continued evidence that demand for accelerated computing remains robust, with the letter pointing to first-quarter revenue growth of 85% and earnings per share growth of 131% as support for that view.
