Sands Capital Technology Innovators Fund sells Roblox during Q2

The fund posted a 26.9% net return in Q2 2026, while attributing the Roblox sale to tougher user engagement comparisons and higher safety investments.

Sands Capital Technology Innovators Fund said it sold its position in Roblox Corporation during the second quarter of 2026, pointing to more difficult user engagement comparisons and increased spending on safety features that pressured margins, according to the fund’s Q2 investor letter.

The firm reported the fund returned 26.9% net in Q2, benefiting from broad global equity strength and strength in information technology, with semiconductors and hardware contributing to the index’s advance.

In the letter, Sands Capital Technology Innovators Fund linked its broader performance to gains across areas it described as tied to AI infrastructure, including memory, software infrastructure, and cybersecurity, while noting that concentrated exposure to mega-cap chip designers and manufacturers held back relative results as leadership broadened into areas such as CPUs, networking, and memory.

The investor letter also provided recent Roblox trading and performance context, saying Roblox closed at $37.79 per share on August 7, 2026, after falling 32.9% over one month and down 72.4% over the past 52 weeks. It also cited Roblox’s market capitalization at $27 billion.
