Taylor Farms recalls jalapeno products after salmonella outbreak

The recall covers about 20 jalapeno-containing items and runs across 26 US states, with refunds available where products were purchased.

Taylor Farms is recalling fresh products that contain jalapeno peppers after a salmonella outbreak, withdrawing roughly 20 items from retailers across 26 US states, BBC Business reports.

The company said it was not aware of any illnesses linked to the jalapeno products, and it is pulling items such as dips and sandwiches including pico de gallo salsa, several guacamole varieties, burritos, spicy sandwiches, and fresh sliced jalapenos.

Taylor Farms said a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico was identified as the source of the salmonella outbreak, and it is no longer sourcing from that farmer while filling orders with alternative suppliers.

BBC Business also notes the recall comes after Taylor Farms faced prior scrutiny tied to an outbreak of cyclosporiasis linked to iceberg lettuce, which has made more than 22,000 people ill since May 1, according to a CDC update. Taylor Farms is one of the largest produce companies in the US, supplying retailers such as Walmart, Target, and Whole Foods, and restaurant chains including Taco Bell and McDonald's.
