Hertz shares surge after strong Q2 revenue per day performance

Hertz posted its strongest revenue per day in recent history, and the stock rose 29.5% after the Aug. 6 report with an additional 12.4% the next day.

Hertz Global Holdings delivered a strong second-quarter 2026 earnings update on Aug. 6, highlighted by performance that came in well above expectations, according to Yahoo Finance. The company’s quarter marked its strongest revenue per day (RPD) in recent history, excluding the COVID-era peak of 2022.

While adjusted losses continued, they were narrowing, the outlet said, contributing to renewed optimism around HTZ. Hertz also operates roughly 11,000 locations across 160 countries, with a fleet of more than 500,000 vehicles.

Following the release, Hertz shares jumped 29.5% and then rose another 12.4% the following day, Yahoo Finance reported. The article also notes the stock’s recent volatility, including a run to a 52-week high of $8.18 in April and a drop to a low of $1.45 on Aug. 5.

The outlet attributes part of Hertz’s sharp decline earlier to concerns tied to falling used-car values, which raised questions about resale value for its vehicle fleet.

The article is discussing Hertz’s broader shift beyond car rentals into areas such as used-car sales, car sharing, and mobility services, including fleet-management work through its operating affiliate, Oro Mobility, it said.
