Archer Aviation jumps after deal to buy Boeing’s Wisk and Insitu

The all-stock transaction adds Insitu, which the report estimates generates about $200 million in annual revenue across roughly 35 countries.

Archer Aviation shares surged after the company agreed to acquire Wisk Aero, Insitu, and SkyGrid from The Boeing Company in an all-stock deal, a move that reframes the eVTOL developer’s business from primarily pre-revenue urban air mobility toward a more established aerospace and defense profile.

The market reaction was strong, with the stock up nearly 23% intraday before settling around a 13% gain. Trading volume also exceeded its daily average, reflecting investor interest in the company’s shift toward cash-flow supported operations.

The key asset is Insitu, an intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance drone manufacturer that the outlet estimates has annual revenue of about $200 million. The report also says Insitu operates in roughly 35 countries and has built more than 4,000 Group 2 and 3 unmanned aircraft systems, totaling nearly two million autonomous flight hours.

Boeing is taking a strategic equity position, with an ownership stake reported as nearly 20% in Archer Aviation, along with a lock-up period and out-of-the-money warrants. The outlet frames that combination as signaling longer-term alignment rather than a quick exit, while Archer Aviation gains technology from Wisk Aero and SkyGrid alongside Insitu’s defense revenue stream.
