Baron Opportunity Fund adds Cerebras Systems to Q2 2026 holdings
The fund reported a 27.1% Q2 gain, helped by AI related growth, and said it participated in Cerebras' IPO.
Baron Capital’s Baron Opportunity Fund said it added Cerebras Systems Inc. to its portfolio in its Q2 2026 investor letter, highlighting the company’s role in artificial intelligence infrastructure.
The fund reported performance of 27.07% for the quarter in Institutional Shares, beating the Russell 3000 Growth Index at 17.05% and the S&P 500 at 15.20%. It said the first half of 2026 return was 15.79%, compared with 5.88% for its benchmark and 10.21% for the S&P 500.
Baron Capital attributed much of the fund’s rally to AI related growth, noting that despite uncertainty from geopolitical conflicts and inflation, a group of information technology names led market gains, with the Magnificent Seven contributing significantly to earnings. The letter said growth stocks rebounded and surpassed value stocks, while still lagging year to date.
In its discussion of Cerebras, the fund described the company as a semiconductor design and compute services business building AI accelerators around a differentiated architecture. Baron Capital said it participated in Cerebras’ IPO and cited familiarity developed through meetings and a visit to the company’s headquarters in the final two years before the offering.
