Plug Power tops Q2 estimates and raises its 2026 revenue outlook
Plug Power posted $178.3 million in Q2 revenue, and lifted its 2026 growth outlook to 15.0% to 16.0% as gross margin neared break-even.
Plug Power beat analysts' expectations in the second quarter, generating $178.3 million in revenue versus a $168.8 million consensus estimate, a 5.6% upside. The company also said it raised its 2026 revenue growth outlook to 15.0% to 16.0% from 13.0% to 15.0%, citing improving unit economics as gross margin approached break-even.
The hydrogen fuel-cell and electrolyzer company, based in Slingerlands, New York, reported that its net revenue rose to about $178 million, up roughly 9% sequentially and 2.5% year over year. Plug Power added that gross margin improved to roughly break-even, compared with negative 31.0% a year earlier and negative 13.0% in Q1 2026.
According to the article, the green hydrogen market remains largely unproven despite large forecasts for growth, including an expectation that the market could expand from $2.79 billion in 2025 to $74.81 billion by 2032. Yahoo Finance frames the key question for investors as whether Plug can convert the earnings beat and stronger guidance into a more sustainable recovery after prior losses and cash burn.
