Advisors urge patience as SpaceX, OpenAI and Anthropic IPO hype grows

The article says SpaceX's 2026 IPO, plus pending IPOs for Anthropic and OpenAI, are expected to add up to $4 trillion in market capitalization to US equities over the next six to 12 months.

Yahoo Finance says the biggest 2026 financial story has been SpaceX's initial public offering, with pending IPOs for Anthropic and OpenAI expected to bring as much as $4 trillion in market capitalization to US equities over the next six to 12 months.

The piece describes how some investors are drawn to the idea of buying individual IPO names, including in retirement accounts, as a way to build a focused “mini-tech index.”

However, several financial advisors interviewed for Yahoo Finance urged retirement savers to avoid rushing into single-stock positions, saying long-term results often show up after IPO shares are included in mainstream indices and diversified sector funds.

One advisor, Maria Castillo Dominguez of Valoria Wealth Management, argued that enthusiasm can turn costly if a portion of the high-profile IPOs underperform, and she also raised concerns tied to future required minimum distributions and the need for Roth conversion planning; another advisor, Andrew Van Alstyne of High Rock Wealth Management, warned that early sentiment trading and later disappointment could weigh on performance.
