SpaceX shares test $150 after a more than 40% rebound

Shares rallied over 40% from their Aug. 3 low near $105, with the stock around $148 as options prices reflect roughly 72% implied volatility.

SpaceX stock is testing its first public-trade level at $150 after rebounding sharply from its August low, according to Yahoo Finance. Shares have gained more than 40% since an Aug. 3 trough near $105, and were recently trading around $148.

A break above $150 could shift attention to higher levels seen during the company’s earlier post-IPO run, with $170 previously acting as a reference point. Yahoo Finance also notes that the $172 to $180 area has been a resistance zone in July.

One options approach highlighted by Yahoo Finance is a bull call spread that aims to benefit from a move through the $150 area while controlling upfront risk. The play described involves buying a call and selling a higher strike call, with the Oct. 16 setup costing about $17.25 per share for the bought call, then reducing the net outlay to about $7 per share after selling the Oct. 16 $170 call for about $10.25.

In the scenario laid out, the Aug. 21 version required the move quickly with nine days until expiration, while the longer-dated October structure offers more time for a breakout. Yahoo Finance says the Oct. 16 bull call spread would lose the $700 paid upfront if SpaceX finishes at or below $150, while profit would build as the stock rises to a $170 maximum-gain ceiling.
