Hong Kong visitor arrivals rise 3% in July despite bad weather
About 80% of July visitors were from mainland China, while total rainfall hit 790.3 mm, more than double the July norm.
Hong Kong recorded about 4.5 million visitor arrivals in July, up 3.0% from a year earlier, as international conventions and exhibitions helped lift business travel, according to the Hong Kong Tourism Board.
The Tourism Board said major MICE events, including the 108th Lions International Convention and the technology exhibition LEAP East, supported growth in business visitors and arrivals from select source markets.
Mainland visitor numbers grew 3.0% year on year to about 3.61 million, with the board attributing the weaker pace mainly to inclement weather. The Hong Kong Observatory described July as much gloomier and wetter than usual, with total rainfall reaching 790.3 mm, more than double the July normal.
For the first seven months of the year, Hong Kong received 31.22 million visitors, up 11.0% from the same period in 2025. Mainland arrivals reached 24.16 million, up 13.0% year on year, while non-mainland visitors rose 5.0% to about 7.05 million.
