15 S&P 500 stocks have doubled or more in 2026, led by memory chip demand

Yahoo Finance analysis highlights Sandisk’s roughly 600% gain and says the winners span AI infrastructure, including chips, data centers, and fuel-linked energy names.

Yahoo Finance analysis points to 15 companies in the S&P 500 that are up 100% or more in 2026, a stretch of unusually strong performance tied to a single theme, according to the outlet.

Sandisk leads the group with an almost 600% gain on the year, fueled by strong demand for its memory chips at higher prices, while the article notes Nvidia is not on the list because its stock is up only 18% year to date.

The list also includes older tech firms that have shifted toward building AI infrastructure, with examples including Dell, Intel, and Hewlett Packard Enterprise.

Beyond hardware, the winners show the AI trade broadening, with Marathon Petroleum and Valero included, the piece argues that expanding data center construction needs significant fuel, and it cites large planned capital spending by major tech companies and a large financing commitment involving Nvidia.

The article also references Nvidia’s earlier all-time high of $236 on May 14, and says that after a later sell-off, the stock fell by more than $1 trillion in market value and returned to the $190s, as SpaceX’s record IPO in June and subsequent plunge were discussed as well.
