Pony AI expands robotaxi fleet as Q2 revenue rises nearly 69%

Pony AI said it expects 3,500 robotaxis in operation by year end, after ending Q2 with 1,975 cars in service.

Pony AI, a China-based autonomous driving technology company, reported a solid second quarter with net revenue of $36.22 million, growing nearly 69% year over year, and above analyst expectations, according to MarketBeat Ratings.

The company pointed to adoption momentum driven by fleet expansion. By quarter end, it had 1,975 cars in service, with expanded service areas and deeper penetration, while its Robotruck segment grew 40% and its passenger-focused Robotaxi segment grew more than 690%.

Pony AI also highlighted early margin leverage, with gross margin up 140 basis points, as increased spending was still being outweighed by scale. Capital expenses rose to $32.2 million, more than triple the prior year, with spending focused on accelerating vehicle production, technology, and service areas.

For the rest of the year, MarketBeat Ratings said Pony AI affirmed plans to end with 3,500 cars in operation, a 75% year over year increase, and it continues pursuing international expansion including the European Union and Latin America, while facing geopolitical barriers to the U.S. robotaxi market.
