Target heads into Q2 with stock at 52-week high

Target shares rose 56% year-to-date and touched $156.47 on Aug. 13 as analysts raised price targets ahead of its Aug. 19 earnings report.

Target Corp is set to report second-quarter earnings after its stock hit a new 52-week high. Yahoo Finance said TGT shares are up 56% year-to-date and reached $156.47 on Aug. 13.

Ahead of the Aug. 19 earnings date, analysts have raised price targets and expectations for Target’s turnaround progress. Jefferies initiated coverage with a Buy rating and set a $177 target, the highest now, while Telsey Advisory lifted its target to $170, Piper Sandler raised its target to $146 from $127 but kept a Hold rating, and Truist increased its target to $147 from $130.

Other brokerages also moved targets higher, including RBC Capital to $166 from $153 with a Buy rating and Oppenheimer to $170 from $140. Yahoo Finance also noted analyst Rupesh Parikh’s view that management could raise fiscal 2026 guidance if turnaround efforts continue gaining traction.

Still, some analysts remain cautious. Bank of America increased its target to $124 but kept a Sell rating, and across 35 analysts covering Target, Yahoo Finance said the distribution was 10 Strong Buys, 3 Moderate Buys, 18 Holds, 1 Moderate Sell, and 3 Strong Sells. The report added that the stock is already above its average target price of $143.46, setting a high bar for the Q2 results.
