Vivienne Westwood seeks approval for South Beach boutique buildout
The brand bought the 736 Collins Avenue property for $6 million in 2024 and has now filed plans for a 4,356-square-foot ground-floor retail space plus offices, a bridal showroom and a rooftop deck.
Vivienne Westwood has submitted an application to develop a South Beach store at 736 Collins Avenue, according to Commercial Observer. The proposal would build out a vacant three-story property dating to 1921, with Miami Beach’s Historic Preservation Board set to consider the plan next month.
The retailer’s plans call for a 4,356-square-foot ground-floor sales area with three fitting rooms and two storage rooms. The second floor would be used for executive offices and meeting rooms, while the top floor would include a bridal showroom and a rooftop deck, along with a neon sign at the entrance.
In the application, the project is described as honoring the building’s Art Deco and Mediterranean Revival heritage while adding contemporary features such as Florida limestone cladding, polished brass storefront elements, and a pink neon signature with an Orb statue in the forecourt, per Commercial Observer.
Commercial Observer also notes that Vivienne Westwood paid $6 million in 2024 for the 14,692-square-foot building, which sits a few blocks west of Ocean Drive between Seventh and Eighth Streets, and that the brand remains independent under the family ownership of Vivienne Westwood’s namesake.
