Iran downplays US economic threat amid no clear path to a deal

Analysts cited by Forexlive said the backdrop suggests US sanctions have not previously produced results and a return to a ceasefire may be delayed.

Forexlive reports that Iran’s foreign minister played down a threat from US President Trump tied to a new economic effort against Iran, arguing the message effectively signals that the two sides are still far from reaching a deal.

The outlet said the renewed pressure underscores a shift in approach from earlier attempts to force Iran to concede, but questioned how much further sanctions can be pushed given past outcomes.

Forexlive added that, following similar US warnings, Iran’s typical response has been to treat the threats as lacking new substance, while pointing to continued uncertainty over whether the conflict could move toward a peaceful transition.

According to the report, the recent developments since late June suggest a return to a ceasefire is unlikely in the near term.
