SQM Q2 2026 revenue and EPS top estimates as lithium sales surge
Second-quarter lithium carbonate equivalent revenue rose to $1.78 billion, up 300% year over year, and SQM raised its full-year global lithium demand forecast to more than 2.1 million metric tons.
Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM) reported blowout Q2 2026 results, with revenue of $2.47 billion topping the $2.24 billion consensus forecast by 10.3%, and adjusted EPS of $2.31 ahead of estimates of $2.04, according to MarketBeat Ratings.
The company said lithium drove most of the quarter, with lithium segment revenue nearly quadrupling year over year to $1.78 billion and record sales volume above 84,000 metric tons of lithium carbonate equivalent. Average realized prices at the company’s Chilean joint venture, Novandino, were about $21.80 per kilogram, up 23% from the prior quarter and roughly 160% higher than a year ago.
MarketBeat Ratings also noted the margin impact of the lithium turnaround. The lithium segment generated 78% of the company’s gross margin for the first half of 2026, following a reversal from earlier oversupply-driven price weakness.
Alongside lithium, iodine delivered its second straight record quarter, with average realized iodine prices reaching an all-time high of about $73.40 per kilogram. Iodine volumes rose 8% year over year to 7,900 metric tons for the first half, while segment revenue increased 10% to $578.10 million, with demand led by X-ray contrast media.
