Frontier Commodities CEO discusses growth and strategy for its $1bn fund
Hedgeweek says Frontier Commodities is a $1bn-plus long-short commodity shop formed about two years ago, and highlights its “quantemental” approach and China-focused, on the ground research.
Hedgeweek spoke with Aline Carnizelo, CEO of Frontier Commodities, in a closed-door interview that covers how the firm runs a standalone commodities fund and how its structure supports its investment process.
According to Hedgeweek, Frontier Commodities has reached a $1bn-plus long-short commodity platform roughly two years after inception, and Carnizelo discusses the operational differences between running a standalone fund versus operating as a separate book within a larger organization.
The interview also touches on Frontier’s choice of portfolio setup, its current view of commodities, and the firm’s emphasis on supply and demand research, including the importance of having a local presence in China.
Hedgeweek further reports that Frontier uses a “quantemental approach,” and it discusses where the firm generated significant returns in 2026, plus its forward-looking growth plans and potential capacity limits.
