US 10-year yields rebound toward 4.7% after long-debt buyback push
The move follows a Wednesday plan to double long-term debt buybacks, with 30-year yields edging up to about 5.3% as concerns remain over spending and inflation expectations.
US long-term Treasury yields rebounded in the second half of the week, wiping out much of the earlier decline tied to a US Treasury announcement, according to Forexlive.
The outlet said the 10-year yield recovered to about 4.704%, while 30-year yields were nudging higher to around 5.251% on the day.
Forexlive linked the focus to the outlook for whether bond-market “vigilantes” will allow yields to break higher, after the Wednesday announcement to double long-term debt buybacks was followed by additional verbal intervention from Treasury Secretary Bessent.
The piece argued that any buyback effort is intended as signaling rather than a cure, pointing to persistent structural pressures including high government spending and rising inflation expectations, and noting that without changes to those drivers, yields may only see short lived relief.
