Emerson shares draw support after BP contract and upbeat fiscal outlook

Emerson posted Q3 fiscal 2026 net sales of $4.9 billion, raised full-year EPS guidance to about $4.9, and boosted free cash flow 36% to $1.3 billion.

Emerson Electric moved into focus as BP awarded the company a multi million dollar contract for integrated control and safety systems tied to BP’s $2.9 billion Shah Deniz Compression project in the Caspian Sea, according to Yahoo Finance. The deal centers on electrically powered offshore equipment that will use four 11MW compressors to access low pressure gas reserves, with operations remote from BP’s Sangachal terminal.

Beyond the contract, Yahoo Finance pointed to Emerson’s Q3 fiscal 2026 results showing net sales up 7% year over year to $4.87 billion and an adjusted segment EBITA margin expanding to 28.5%. Net earnings were $718 million, with management raising full-year EPS guidance to about $4.89, while free cash flow jumped 36% to $1.32 billion.

The article also cited analyst commentary, noting Bernstein increased its Emerson price target to $186 from $169 while keeping an Outperform rating. The analyst said 4% to 7% organic growth through the cycle is credible, attributing support to strength in Test and Measurement and structural tailwinds in power and LNG, Yahoo Finance reported.

In contrast, Yahoo Finance described BP’s Q2 2026 performance as shaped by commodity volatility, with operating cash flow rising to $10.9 billion from $2.9 billion in Q1 and underlying replacement cost profit reaching $5.7 billion. BP reduced net debt to $22.3 billion, increased its quarterly dividend by 4%, and acknowledged operational issues including refinery outages and lagging cost reduction targets, while also securing a Venezuela offshore exploration and production license for the Loran gas field, described as holding 4 trillion cubic feet of recoverable gas.
