Micron shares slide 7% as AI memory valuation faces bond-yield pressure

The stock’s drop came as Philadelphia Semiconductor Index fell 5%, following an almost 18% gain over the prior five sessions, according to Yahoo Finance.

Micron Technology shares fell 7% to $940.76 on August 19 amid a semiconductor selloff, as rising bond yields drew fresh scrutiny to highly valued AI-related stocks, Yahoo Finance reported.

The article linked the move to broader weakness in semiconductors, noting the Philadelphia Semiconductor Index dropped 5%. It also put Micron’s decline in context, saying the stock had gained almost 18% over the previous five sessions and is still up more than threefold in 2026.

Yahoo Finance highlighted Micron’s contracts with strategic customers, which it described as giving the memory industry unusual visibility. All 16 strategic agreements include take-or-pay commitments, the largest deals include price ceilings, and fiscal third-quarter remaining performance obligations exceeded $5 billion.

In its most recent results, Micron reported fiscal third-quarter revenue of $41.46 billion, with non-GAAP diluted EPS of $25.11, and guided for fourth-quarter non-GAAP diluted EPS of $31, plus or minus $1. The article said management expects DRAM and NAND supply to remain tight beyond calendar 2027 as AI demand grows faster than supply, supported by contract structures that aim to reduce demand and pricing uncertainty.
