Nvidia set to report Aug. 26, with OpenAI financing risks in focus

Nvidia is expected to nearly double Q2 revenue year over year to $92.0 billion, while covering off-balance-sheet guarantees tied to OpenAI's Ohio data center.

Nvidia is scheduled to release fiscal Q2 2027 results on Aug. 26 after the close of markets, with Wall Street looking for another strong quarter. Ahead of the report, the shares were down 3.3% over the prior five days and were trading 8.5% below the record highs hit in May, according to Yahoo Finance.

Consensus estimates call for Nvidia’s Q2 revenue to nearly double year over year to $92.01 billion, compared with the company’s own forecast of $91 billion, plus or minus 2%. Analysts also expect Q2 earnings per share to more than double to $2.01, while Nvidia has previously forecast GAAP gross margins between 74.4% and 75.4%.

While several analysts expect a “beat and raise” setup, Yahoo Finance highlights that investors may focus as much on Nvidia’s financing commitments as on operating results. The outlet notes Nvidia has agreed to provide guarantees for up to $105 billion for OpenAI's Ohio data center, describing that as a potential risk not reflected on the balance sheet.

Among the analyst takes covered by Yahoo Finance, Stifel’s Ruben Roy expects Nvidia to beat Q2 earnings and raise annual guidance, while TD Cowen’s Joshua Buchalter expects a similar earnings outcome but anticipates limited stock movement. UBS expects Nvidia to exceed revenue guidance by as much as $4 billion and forecast October-quarter guidance above Street estimates, and Bank of America’s Vivek Arya views valuations as compelling despite Nvidia’s off-balance-sheet commitments.
