Raley's to close Petaluma store, affecting 48 jobs in 2027
The closure is part of Raley's plan to cut seven store locations across California and Nevada, citing local market conditions and long-term financial sustainability.
Yahoo Finance reports that The Raley's Companies will close a Northern California grocery store in Petaluma, California on Jan. 26, 2027, impacting 48 workers' jobs.
The company said the Petaluma closure follows a broader regional downsizing plan calling for seven store closings across California and Nevada. Raley's also described the decision as driven by local market conditions and long-term financial sustainability.
The story notes that the downsizing began in 2026 with the closure of stores in Roseville, California in January and Antioch, California in April, after store leases were allowed to expire.
Yahoo Finance also says Raley's continued closing locations including a Nob Hill Foods store in Mountain View, California on May 29, 2026 affecting 50 employees, and plans further closures in Los Gatos, California when a lease expires in June 2027, Brentwood, California on Nov. 3, 2026, and an Elko, Nevada location in December 2026. The outlet adds that Raley's plans to offer transfer opportunities where possible, and that competition from online marketplaces and changing customer preferences have affected store foot traffic and sales, according to the company.
