Riksbank minutes raise questions on how hawkish Sweden’s board is

The minutes come after a smaller meeting with no new projections, and traders are looking for clues on whether the dovish stance was unanimous.

Sweden’s Riksbank minutes from last week’s meeting are set for release at 9.30 CET, with market focus on how consistently the board supported the bank’s comparatively dovish communication. The gathering was smaller and included no new projections, with only a brief monetary policy update, making the minutes a key read on internal alignment. According to Action Forex, the main questions center on Governor Thedéen and Seim, who have recently been viewed as more hawkish. Investors will also be watching the other three members, Jansson, Bunge, and Hjelm, to see whether any of them have moved closer to the more hawkish camp. In the broader macro calendar, Sweden’s minutes are paired with upcoming data and remarks across markets. The Conference Board is scheduled to release the August consumer confidence report in the US, while Fed non-voting member Barkin speaks later in the day and the euro area’s German Ifo indicator for August is also in focus. Denmark is also set for July retail sales data, and the Central Bank of Hungary is expected to deliver a rate decision, with Action Forex forecasting a 25 bps cut to 5.50%.
