ICICI Prudential boosts stake in SBI Cards to 7.30% via open-market buys

The latest purchase was 21.61 lakh shares on August 25, 2026, lifting the holding from a previously disclosed 5.18%.

ICICI Prudential Mutual Fund has increased its stake in SBI Cards and Payment Services to 7.30% through open-market purchases, acquiring a net 2.02 crore equity shares since its prior disclosure, according to LiveMint Markets.

The most recent transaction involved the purchase of 21.61 lakh shares on August 25, 2026. The mutual fund said the buys were made for investment purposes and are not intended to acquire control of SBI Cards.

LiveMint Markets also reported that ICICI Prudential AMC shares fell nearly 5% after the company said its promoter, Prudential Corporation Holdings, plans to sell up to a 2% stake to comply with minimum public shareholding norms.

In an exchange filing, ICICI Prudential AMC said Prudential Corporation Holdings intends to offload up to 98.85 lakh equity shares, with the sale expected to start on August 27 and potentially be executed in one or more tranches. The filing also indicated the promoter and promoter group stake would decline from 87.60% to 85.60% after the proposed sale.
