Kevin Warsh faces a rate decision if inflation fails to ease

The central bank chair is weighing whether to raise rates when inflation remains sticky, despite the risk of political blowback.

Kevin M. Warsh, chairman of the Federal Reserve, is heading toward a major policy decision on interest rates if inflation does not improve, according to the NYT Business.

The outlet notes that the situation is difficult because a potential rate increase could draw President Trump’s ire, even though the decision would be tied to whether inflation is easing.

Warsh will have to judge the inflation outlook and decide how to respond on rates in the face of that tension, the report said.
