Alphabet pushes ahead with AI Search as ad revenue rises
Alphabet said AI Mode surpassed one billion monthly active users, and Google Search advertising grew 17% year over year to $63.3 billion in the second quarter.
Alphabet is positioned for further gains as it expands core operations and accelerates investment in artificial intelligence, with a focus on integrating AI into Google Search, according to a Yahoo Finance analysis.
The piece points to AI Overviews and AI Mode as changes to how users interact with Search, and says AI Mode has surpassed one billion monthly active users globally, while also driving an incremental increase in overall Search queries.
Alphabet’s Search and advertising performance, it adds, supports that growth story. In the second quarter, Google Search and other advertising revenue increased 17% year over year to $63.3 billion, while total Google advertising rose 14% to $81.6 billion, with YouTube advertising up 13%.
The analysis also highlights subscription momentum, saying revenue from Alphabet’s Subscriptions, Platforms, and Devices segment grew 15% year over year to $12.9 billion in the quarter, supported by demand for YouTube Music and YouTube Premium and Google One.
