Baron Global Opportunity Fund posts 26.7% Q2 gain on stock selection

The fund said its overall outperformance versus the MSCI ACWI Index was 1,173 basis points for the quarter.

Baron Global Opportunity Fund, managed by Baron Capital, reported a strong second-quarter 2026, gaining 26.7% on institutional shares, ahead of a 14.9% rise for the MSCI ACWI Index and 19.8% for the MSCI ACWI Growth Index, according to the fund’s Q2 investor letter.

Through year to date, the fund was up 20.6%, compared with 11.3% and 10.6% for the two benchmark indexes, the letter said. Baron also pointed to market pattern similarities with the prior year, after three years of over 25% gains supported by economic strength and AI investment.

The fund said elevated geopolitical risks persisted, and described a tariff-related market dip followed by recovery, along with an initial sell-off tied to airstrikes against Iran and later rally once hostilities eased. Baron credited significant relative gains to stock selection and sector allocation, citing 1,173 basis points of overall outperformance versus the Index.

In the letter, Baron flagged Wix.com Ltd. as a contributor to weaker performance in the quarter, saying Wix.com shares declined 51.0% during Q2 as growth in its core business slowed. The article also noted Wix.com closed at $88.38 per share on September 1, 2026, with a 40.93% return over the prior month and a 37.09% drop over the past year, giving the company a $3.7 billion market capitalization.
