Range Rover unveils its first fully electric model
JLR said it up-skilled 10,500 workers for electric production, as the launch comes amid falling profits and restructuring after a cyber attack.
Range Rover has unveiled its first fully electric model, the Range Rover Electric, after a year-long delay to its planned launch.
The vehicle will be built in Solihull, part of JLRs manufacturing footprint in the West Midlands, where the company has carried out large-scale upgrades to support electrification production.
According to the BBC Business, JLR said it up-skilled 10,500 workers for electric production, with about 9,000 employees trained in Solihull and a further 1,500 across the wider West Midlands region.
The launch arrives as JLR faces recent financial pressure, supply chain disruption, and restructuring following last years cyber attack, with profits dropping to £66 million in the first quarter and the company confirming fewer than 300 roles would be cut within a year.
