Texas Instruments shares lag peers despite strong industrial rebound

TXN is down 21.9% from its 52-week high, while the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF has fallen 20.9% over the same three-month period.

Texas Instruments, with a market capitalization of $236.2 billion, has underperformed within the semiconductor group over multiple timeframes despite a rebound narrative that has helped the stock remain positive on a longer horizon, Yahoo Finance reports. The company designs and manufactures analog, mixed signal, and digital signal processing integrated circuits and operates through two segments, Analog and Embedded Processing.

Shares of Dallas, Texas-based Texas Instruments have dipped 21.9% from their 52-week high of $334.03 and are down 14.7% over the past three months. Over the same three-month window, the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor ETF, XSD, has declined 20.9%, though TXN is up 50.4% year to date, slightly below XSD's 50.9% gain.

Over the past 52 weeks, Texas Instruments has gained 27.8% compared with a 65.4% surge for XSD. The article attributes Texas Instruments' outperformance versus some peers over the past year to a strong rebound in industrial demand, with acceleration in its data center business tied to AI infrastructure expansion and new application-specific products.

In relative terms, Texas Instruments has also outpaced Qualcomm over the past year, with QCOM shares up 6% over 52 weeks and slightly lower on a year-to-date basis in the article's comparison. Yahoo Finance also notes analysts have a consensus rating of “Moderate Buy” from 34 analysts covering the stock, citing improving free cash flow prospects, stronger demand visibility, and Texas Instruments' relatively defensive position among analog chipmakers.
