Arauca Capital highlights VersaBank thesis in 2026 investor letter
The firm said its concentrated portfolio returned 25.26% gross in H1 2026, while VersaBank shares were up 81.7% over the past year as of Sept. 8.
Arauca Capital, an investment management firm focused on a concentrated portfolio of high quality companies, published its latest investor letter highlighting VersaBank as part of its 2026 thesis. The firm said the portfolio generated a gross return of 25.26% for H1 2026 and noted record investor inflows during the period, emphasizing fundamentals over past performance.
In the second quarter 2026 investor letter, Arauca Capital described VersaBank as a fully digital, branchless bank operating in Canada and the United States. It also outlined VersaBank’s model through its Structured Receivable Program, where it funds point of sale finance companies by buying cash flows from loans while keeping the credit risk with the financing partner.
According to the letter, VersaBank shares closed at $22.06 per share on Sept. 8, 2026. Over the prior month the stock returned 13.13%, and it was up 81.71% over the past year, with a market capitalization of $715.16 million and a 52 week trading range of $11.25 to $25.05.
The letter also said Arauca Capital initiated a position in VersaBank during the period, and it discussed how AI is improving operations, though adoption in larger institutions remains limited. It added that the investment landscape, particularly around AI, requires balancing patience with adaptability amid skepticism about the durability of inflated AI related valuations.
