U.S. to respond to Canada counter-tariffs with new tariffs and exclusions

The U.S. will exclude certain products from the import halt, including whey, alcoholic beverages, and motorcycles, with the exclusions starting September 29.

The U.S. response to Canada’s counter-tariffs includes three steps, according to Action Forex, including stopping imports of some products, removing tariffs on a limited set of items, and introducing new tariffs on others.

Among the products set to be excluded from the import stop are whey, alcoholic beverages, and motorcycles, with the exclusions beginning September 29.

Action Forex also said the excluded products represent less than 0.3% of U.S. imports from Canada in 2025.
