Broadcom flags Anthropic as a top AI chip customer by 2027
Broadcom said it expects Anthropic to become its largest XPU customer in 2027, supporting Ironwood capacity deployment starting in 2026.
Broadcom indicated during its third-quarter earnings call that Anthropic is likely to become its largest XPU customer in 2027, a relationship it expects to hold through 2028, according to Yahoo Finance.
The company also outlined its planned capacity for that demand, saying it expects to deploy 1 gigawatt of Ironwood capacity for Anthropic during 2026, then add 5 GW in 2027 based on TPU version 8i, with a path toward another 10 GW in 2028.
Broadcom linked Anthropic’s requirements to the expansion of frontier AI models and said that demand could increase its infrastructure opportunity in 2027 and 2028, while larger AI clusters could also expand the company’s networking exposure.
In the quarter, Broadcom reported AI semiconductor revenue rose 54% sequentially and 221% year over year to $16.7 billion, representing 56% of total revenue, and it predicted $21.7 billion of AI semiconductor revenue in Q4, which would imply 236% YOY growth and lift fiscal 2026 AI revenue to $58 billion.
