Nvidia boosts share buyback authorization by $150 billion
The new authorization raises remaining buyback capacity to $235 billion through fiscal 2028.
Nvidia increased its share buyback authorization by $150 billion, lifting its remaining buyback capacity to $235 billion, according to LiveMint Markets, citing a Reuters report. The company said its board expanded the repurchase program and plans to execute the total remaining authorization through fiscal year 2028.
LiveMint Markets reports the additional buyback authorization is Nvidia’s biggest-ever increase, surpassing Apple’s $110 billion buyback boost announced in 2024. Nvidia also tied the decision to its cash generation, which it said supports both investment and capital returns.
The outlet reports Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said the company’s growth is driven by a major shift to AI and accelerated computing, and that its cash generation gives it capacity to invest in technologies advancing that transformation. The company also noted, in a filing, that it introduced an open safety platform for AI agents that includes monitoring.
